Financial translation classes

I remember when I was a post-graduate student, we attended classes on financial translation. That was probably the most boring subject I had ever had during my entire education years. I mean, it might have been interesting. I"m not really an expert in finances, and they have always been a kind of abstract thing for me. This is why now I focus on something completely different. But even so, it is still possible to present the subject from a more fascinating point of view. I guess that was not the case with that particular teacher. She was in fact a financial specialist, not a translator herself. It"s true that she had a profound knowledge on the subject, but somehow she couldn"t convey it to the students. Her voice was so monotonous that she seemed uninterested in the classes herself. Everybody was falling asleep. The lesson was scheduled early in the morning so I had to keep repeating myself in my head that I must keep my eyes open. The woman was really good at Financial translation, I don"t doubt it at all, but she was simply not a very good teacher. This is why I never learned anything from her. It"s a pity, because there are moments when the knowledge might come in handy while I"m translating other types of documents.
